Margo Selby is a British artist and designer working with colour and geometric form in woven textiles.

Represented by Cynthia Corbett Gallery, Margo Selby returns to Collect Art Fair, with moon landing; her first site-specific installation, created in collaboration with composer Helen Caddick.

moon landing is an immersive artwork comprising a hand woven textile, 16 meters in height by Margo Selby, and a newly composed musical piece scored for strings by Helen Caddick. The textile art is suspended within the 5-story void of Somerset House's Stamp Stairwell, viewable in-the-round as you ascend and descend the winding stairs.

Margo Selby’s works are collected and exhibited worldwide. She accepts commissions to make bespoke artworks for site-specific installations.

Each unique loom-woven artwork has thousands of individual strands of yarn – every one of those hand-threaded, counted and re-counted. Margo’s works are painterly, in regard to the optical mixing of pure colour – and sculptural, in the physicality of woven thread as a mode of construction. Formal aesthetics are paramount; colour, shape, orientation, rhythm.

Habitat | 60 Years of Design Collection

To mark the 60th birthday of the iconic British design and retail brand Habitat, Margo Selby was invited to be a guest designer alongside industry icons including Sebastian Conran, Felix Conran and Tord Boontje, to design a capsule collection for their 60th anniversary range.

Margo’s collection of textiles and lighting draws inspiration from the Habitat archive, particularly the graphic, primary aesthetic from the brand’s archive from the 70s & 80s.

Weaving for Vexillum

A short film made in preparation for Collect 2020, providing an insight into Margo’s handweaving process.

Collect is the Crafts Council's International Art Fair for Modern Craft + Design, held annually at Somerset House in London. Margo was the recipient of the Collect Open Award 2020, for her triptych installation Vexillum.
